Mohun Bagan officials tried their best in controling the situation but all efforts of resuming the match went in vain as raging fans were beyond anybody’s control. Hence Match Commissioner Udayan Halder forced to call off the game due to lack of security after a 50-minute halt.

Prabir Das and Alfred Jaryan were the scorers for Mohun Bagan and Tollygung respectively, while a goal each of Daniel Bidemi and Prabir were discarded for off-side. But the real drama unfolded in the injury time when Azhar’s goal was cancelled with two and a half minutes still left to play.

Immediately, Mohun Bagan management decided to withdraw the players and announced that they would be boycotting the remainder of the league to protest against the poor refereeing which saw a total number of three goals being ruled off-side in the game.

However, the Mohun Bagan General Secretary Anjan Mitra later demanded for a replay of the game and stated the club would only reconsider their decision of boycotting the league if the State Association fulfill their demand.
