MUMBAI: Sunil Chhetri re-signed for Mumbai City FC on Monday for the upcoming third edition of the Indian Super League.

With seven goals Sunil was the top scorer for Mumbai City FC last season and is in fine form at present as his recent showing in the international friendly against Puerto Rico proved last week.

“Mumbai, first of all thank you lots for all the love and support that we received against Puerto Rico. I’m pretty happy to announce that in this upcoming season of Hero ISL 2016, I’ll be donning the Mumbai City FC jersey again. I’m really excited and looking forward to it,” Sunil said after re-signing.

India’s all-time top-scorer, who missed the inaugural season of the ISL, became the most expensive Indian player of the league when he was bought by the Ranbir Kapoor co-owned side in the player auction last year for a whopping Rs 1.2 crore.

Despite his team’s poor show in the ISL 2015, Sunil finished the fourth highest goalscorer and also became the first Indian to score a hat-trick last season when he netted thrice against NorthEast United FC.
