Bambolim, Goa: India’s losing streak continues in the ongoing BRICS U-17 Football Cup 2016, as they go down 0-1 against China 0-1 at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim, Goa.
The all important goal came in the dying minutes of the match through Huang Cong which separated the teams in a evenly matched tie on Tuesday.
China began on an aggressive note initially and went agonisingly close in the 28th minute from a free-kick, but India goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh’s strong fists obstructed the ball away for a corner.
Thereafter, India gradually gained control and increased their pressure up front but it was lack of finishing that did not allow the Nicolai Adam coached side to go ahead in the first half.
The second half was a similar story to the first as India continued to dominate proceedings. However, once again it was the lack of finishing that let them down.
China, on the other hand, did show some excellent moves in patches. India, who defended valiantly throughout the session were breached at the very end when Huang Cong slotted the winner in stoppage time to ensure full three points for his team.
