Amman (Jordan): India had a clutch of two silver and six bronze medals in the Asian junior Individual squash championship which is ending here on Saturday. One more Indian Tushar Shahani is still in the fray, playing the U-17 final and it could be one more silver or gold in the total tally so far of 8 medals.

Earlier, Neel Joshi (U-15) and Yuvraj Wadhwani (U-13) ended runner up in their respective section to win a silver medal each. The bronze medals came from the girls who all lost in the semi-finals.

Late last nighti the semi-final results it must be said went as per seedings with the higher seeded boys Tushar, Neel and Yuvraj, all seeded two, making it to the title round. Neel had the most impressive outing with a straight game win over his Iranian opponent Danial Gharooni. But the girls, all lower seeded, failed to spring any surprise. Still mention has to be made of ¾ seed Sunayna Kuruvilla (U-19) and unseeded Yoshna Singh. Sunayna was twice in lead but failed to capitalise against Japan’s top seed Satomi Watanabe while Yoshna came back from two games down before losing to Malaysia’s number two seed Kiroshanna Manoharan.
