Hong Kong: Indian national champion Joshna Chinappa shocked the top seed Annie Au of Hong Kong to storm into the final of the HKFC International, a PSA world tour event here on Friday.

The third seed Indian who had a tough quarterfinal match against the 8th seed Liu Tsz-Ling,also of Hong Kong yesterday, shed aside her diffidence in wearing down the highly rated opponent, who is ranked 10th in theWorld, two rungs above Joshna. The 71 minute match ended 11-9, 10-12, 11-7, 8-11, 11-9 in Joshna’s favour and in the process the Indian had done a repeat performance of the same event last year by not only moving into the final but beating the same opponent! On that occasion too the match had gone the full distance of five games.

Joshna now awaits the winner of fourth seed Tesni Evans (Wales) and second seed Nour El Tayeb (Egypt) for the title match on Saturday.
