KOLKATA: After Costa Rican Johnny Acosta yet another World Cupper will turn out for East Bengal this season in Calcutta Football League as Chennaiyin FC today announced that 19-year-old attacking midfielder Abhijit Sarkar has joined The Red and Golds on a loan deal for the 2019-20 season.

The versatile midfielder, who has represented India in FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017, signed for Chennaiyin ahead of 2018-19 season from the All India Football Federation (AIFF) developmental side Indian Arrows, spending the subsequent season with them on loan.

Abhijit made six appearances for Indian Arrows last season, scoring once. The AIFF Elite Academy graduate was at Indian Arrows in the 2017-18 campaign as well, where he finished as their I-League top-scorer with four goals.

Meanwhile, Spanish defender Borja Gomez Perez has also joined training today under assistant coach Josep Ferre at Saltlake Stadium training ground.
