PANJIM: The 3rd GFA Vedanta Senior Women’s Football League will kick off on November 23 with four clubs participating to decide the Goa champions.
The participating teams are Bidesh XI SC, Churchill Brothers FC, PVC Parra and Albert Developers SC.
The teams will play under the double-leg system with the league championship being sponsored by Sesa Community Development Foundation(Vedanta).
The sponsorship agreement was signed by GFA and Sesa Community Development Foundation’s Leena Verenkar on behalf of Vedanta.
The winners will get a cash prize of Rs. 80,000, the runners–up Rs. 60,000 and the third-placed team Rs.40,000-, besides trophies, medals, mementos, individual prizes and Star of the Match award for every match.
Vedanta’s Leena Pednekar stated that the Sesa Community Development Foundation is sponsoring and supporting the GFA to conduct the Women’s Football League with the objective of promoting women’s football. This is the third consecutive year of the State League with Vedanta providing the sponsorship and financial support, providing kits for the teams and officials.
The winning team will participate in the 4th Hero Indian Women’s League 2019-20 to be played in the third week of January 2020. The championship is being monitored by the All India Football Federation (AIFF)with the GFA providing the technical support and organisation of the league.
Mr Melroy Moura, Mr Brahmanand Sancoalcar, representing Vedanta and Ms Carol Gomes, Mr Arnaldo Costa, Mr Oswald D’Costa, Ms Maria Rebello, Ms Margaret Rodrigues, Mr Venancio Gonsalves, Mr Clifton Fernandes, Mr Rajesh Salgaocar and senior vice-president of GFA Mr Lavinio Rebello were among those present at the release of the fixtures.
