Florida: India’s Vikram Malhotra annexed his 11th PSA title after winning the $ 12000 Life Time Betty Griffin memorial squash tournament, a PSA challenger event here late on Sunday. The top seeded Indian beat the sixth seeded Jesus Camacho of Mexico in the final 11-6, 11-6, 11-4.
Interestingly it was here in Florida that Vikram had won his first PSA title back in 2015. With his latest success, Vikram has also the highest number of PSA titles for an Indian male player. Ncidentally both Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal Karthik have 11 titles each in the women’s category.
The Indian had a comfortable start in getting past Anthony Rogal of England in the first round, then struggled a little against Leandro Romiglio of Argentina next in the quarters before winning in four games. Third seed Mazen Gamal of Egypt did not prove a push over in the semi-final, with the 84 minute match ending 11-9, 12-14, 11-3, 11-9 in Vikram’s favour.
