MILWAUKEE (AP) – The Milwaukee Bucks clinched a hard-fought 133-129 win over the Chicago Bulls in overtime on Monday night, propelled by Giannis Antetokounmpo’s standout performance. Antetokounmpo’s 32 points and 12 rebounds were crucial in overcoming the Bulls’ challenge, as the Bucks bounced back from their recent loss in the In-Season Tournament semifinals.

The game was a high-scoring affair, with Brook Lopez and Malik Beasley each adding 19 points, and Bobby Portis contributing 17 for Milwaukee. The Bulls, despite a strong showing led by DeMar DeRozan with 41 points and Coby White’s 33 points, couldn’t sustain their four-game winning streak. DeRozan’s performance was particularly notable, as he became the second Bulls player since Michael Jordan to score at least 40 points and 10 assists in a game.

Overtime began with Chicago taking a brief lead, but the Bucks responded with a critical seven-point run, highlighted by Antetokounmpo’s layup. Milwaukee’s victory, however, wasn’t secured until the final moments, as missed free throws left the game within reach for the Bulls. Damian Lillard’s late free throws finally sealed the win for the Bucks.

Bucks coach Adrian Griffin praised the Bulls’ resilience and his team’s ability to get stops when needed. Antetokounmpo, who improved his shooting in the second half and overtime, acknowledged the need for smart shot selection, especially when drawing significant attention from opponents.

The game was tied at the end of regulation, thanks to DeRozan’s floater, countering Lillard’s earlier free throws. Antetokounmpo and DeRozan traded crucial plays in the final minutes, with the former hitting free throws and the latter responding with a dunk and more free throws.

Bulls coach Billy Donovan expressed pride in his team’s competitive spirit and ability to bounce back from deficits, despite falling short in overtime. The Bulls had rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to come within two points at the end of the third quarter.

The Bucks’ efficient shooting, especially from beyond the arc, was a highlight in the first half. Antetokounmpo, despite taking only two shots in the first half, contributed with six assists, demonstrating his versatility.

Looking ahead, the Bulls face a quick turnaround with a game against the Denver Nuggets, while the Bucks prepare to host the Indiana Pacers.

This game showcased the dynamic capabilities of both teams, with the Bucks’ balanced attack and Antetokounmpo’s leadership edging out the Bulls’ spirited comeback led by DeRozan and White.
