The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Dream Asia Foundation’s determination to expand the reach of the Confederation’s social development ambitions was further underlined today at the second Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Chairperson HRH Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al Faisal was pleased to note the AFC’s continued commitment, as underlined in its Vision and Mission, to uplift and empower the Continent’s most vulnerable communities.
Reaffirming the desire to leverage on the strong momentum to impact more marginalised segments across Asia, Chairperson HRH Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al Faisal said: “I am pleased to note that the AFC has continued to harness the power of football to create more meaningful and positive change across our vast Continent.
“Just as importantly, I am heartened by the level of commitment and dedication shown by the AFC’s Member Associations (MAs) and Regional Associations (RAs) to ensure that the programmes are delivered with the utmost efficiency and transparency, and it is vital that we strive to expand the reach of the Foundation to as many territories as possible.”
The BoT members also praised the efforts undertaken across the Asian football community in the area of Child Safeguarding, outlining their confidence in the AFC’s capabilities to solidify its place as a model Confederation when it comes to safeguarding and protecting the interests and wellbeing of children and youth.
In addition to the introduction of the AFC Certificate in Child Safeguarding programme in June this year, the AFC has also been working tirelessly to ensure the appointment of dedicated Child Safeguarding Officers across its 47 MAs and five RAs.
HRH Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al Faisal added: “In no uncertain terms, all of us have a profound sense of duty to ensure our children and youth are provided with the safest and most secure environment to enjoy, grow and develop through the beautiful game.
“So, I am delighted to note that new initiatives and best practices are being explored to enhance the education, awareness and outreach of Child Safeguarding. I applaud the AFC for embarking on this journey and I want to assure them of the full support of the board as they look to bring their worthy ambitions to life.”
