Headline: NOTTINGHAM, England – Nottingham Forest Football Club made a significant move today by officially announcing the appointment of Nuno Espírito Santo as their new first team head coach. The experienced manager joins the club on a two-and-a-half-year contract, poised to lead his first match this coming Saturday when Forest faces AFC Bournemouth at The City Ground.

At 49, Nuno Espírito Santo comes with an impressive resume, having managed over 460 games in his career, spanning across multiple top-tier leagues and European competitions. His managerial journey began at Rio Ave in Portugal, where he remarkably led the team to two cup finals and their first-ever qualification for the UEFA Europa League.

Nuno’s career took a significant leap when he took the reins at Valencia CF in 2014. Under his guidance, the Spanish club secured a fourth-place finish in La Liga in the 2014/15 season, earning them a spot in the UEFA Champions League. Following a successful stint in Spain, he moved to FC Porto, where he boasted an impressive record, winning 27 of his 49 matches.

The Portuguese manager’s venture into English football began in 2017 with Wolverhampton Wanderers. His tenure at Wolves was marked by remarkable achievements, including clinching the Sky Bet Championship title and promoting the team to the Premier League. Nuno didn’t just stop there; he led Wolves to consecutive seventh-place finishes in their first two seasons in the top flight, surpassing expectations and establishing Wolves as a competitive force in the league.

Notably, Nuno also guided Wolverhampton Wanderers to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League in the 2019/20 season, highlighting his expertise in navigating European competitions. Although he departed Wolves in 2021, his impact at the club was significant, marking one of the most successful periods in their recent history.

Following a brief tenure with Tottenham Hotspur during the 2021/22 season, Nuno took on a new challenge in Saudi Arabia, managing Al-Ittihad. His time in the Middle East was marked by success, leading the club to both league and domestic cup triumphs last season.

As Nuno Espírito Santo steps into his new role at Nottingham Forest, he takes charge of his first training session with the squad today. The team is gearing up for a crucial Premier League fixture this Saturday, where they will host Bournemouth at The City Ground, kicking off at 15:00. This appointment marks a new chapter for both Nuno and Nottingham Forest, as the club aims to strengthen its position in the Premier League under his experienced leadership.
