SAN FRANCISCO — Stephen Curry dazzled with a season-high eight 3-pointers, scoring 30 points with seven assists, as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Washington Wizards 129-118 on Friday night. This win allowed the Warriors’ starters, including Curry, to rest ahead of their next game in less than 24 hours.
The game marked the return of former Warrior Jordan Poole to Chase Center, now playing for Washington after being traded for Chris Paul. Poole, who received a warm tribute and ovation, finished with 25 points but struggled with his shooting, making just 3 of 12 from beyond the arc.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr highlighted the special moment for Poole, praising his contributions to the organization and his role in their championship team.
Curry, after a slow start where he began 1 for 6, heated up in the second quarter, hitting three consecutive 3-pointers and scoring 11 straight points. Despite receiving a technical foul for disputing a no-call, Curry’s performance was crucial in securing the win. He has now scored 30 or more points in three of his last four games.
Jonathan Kuminga was another standout performer for Golden State, scoring 22 points on efficient 9-for-11 shooting. Klay Thompson added 20 points, including four 3-pointers, contributing to the Warriors’ eighth consecutive home victory.
The Wizards, concluding a four-game West Coast trip, struggled on the road, with their record falling to 3-15 away from home. Corey Kispert led their bench with 18 points, while Daniel Gafford added 15 points.
Golden State’s rookie Brandin Podziemski returned to the lineup after sitting out with back soreness, contributing 10 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. The Warriors played without forward Andrew Wiggins due to illness.
Another highlight for the Warriors was rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis, who delivered a strong performance with 10 points and a season-best 15 rebounds.
Looking ahead, the Wizards will host Orlando on Tuesday night, while the Warriors prepare for a back-to-back home game against Portland on Saturday night. Golden State will aim to continue their winning streak against the Trail Blazers, having dominated recent matchups in the series.
