NBA: Sabonis’ Triple-Double Leads Kings Past Struggling Suns 120-105

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Domantas Sabonis delivered a standout triple-double performance, leading the Sacramento Kings to a 120-105 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Friday night. Sabonis amassed 28 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds, marking his fourth triple-double of the season.

The Kings’ forward Harrison Barnes lauded Sabonis for his dedication and work ethic, reflecting the team’s appreciation for his contributions. Sacramento’s win, their sixth in eight games, improved their record to 17-10.

Kevin Durant was the top scorer for the Suns with 28 points, but Phoenix’s struggles continued as they lost their fourth game in the last five, bringing their record to an even 14-14.

A highlight for the Kings was their explosive start in the third quarter, making their first 11 shots. De’Aaron Fox made history during this run by breaking the Sacramento-era assist record, with his 2,581st assist leading to a Barnes’ shot. Fox ended the game with 23 points and seven assists, earning praise from teammate Keegan Murray for his record-breaking achievements.

Devin Booker added 24 points and seven assists for the Suns, but it wasn’t enough to counter the Kings’ momentum. The game was marked by heightened emotions, as Durant, Booker, and Suns coach Frank Vogel each received technical fouls in the first half.

Phoenix was significantly hampered by the absence of key players. Guard Bradley Beal, still dealing with an ankle injury, has been limited to just six games this season since his move from the Washington Wizards. Forward Josh Okogie with a hip strain and center Jusuf Nurkic for personal reasons were also missing from the lineup.

Coach Vogel expressed concern about the Suns’ performance, particularly in the third quarter, acknowledging the need for improved offensive execution and overall better play.

Looking ahead, the Suns will try to rebound when they host Dallas on Monday night. The Kings, carrying their winning momentum, will face Minnesota on Saturday night.
