SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Anthony Edwards’ dynamic performance, scoring 34 points and dishing out 10 assists, steered the Minnesota Timberwolves to a solid 110-98 win over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night. Rudy Gobert also played a key role with 21 points and 17 rebounds.
The Timberwolves, who were without star center Karl-Anthony Towns due to left knee soreness, showcased their depth and resilience. Jaden McDaniels contributed 20 points, and Kyle Anderson added 10, helping Minnesota improve to a 22-6 record, tying Boston for the NBA’s best.
De’Aaron Fox led the Kings with 27 points and six assists, while Domantas Sabonis notched a triple-double, finishing with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Sacramento struggled from long range, shooting just 8 of 33 on 3-pointers, the fewest they’ve made in a game this season. Minnesota held the advantage on the boards and forced 11 turnovers, pivotal factors in their victory.
After the Kings reduced their deficit to 11 points at the start of the fourth quarter, the Timberwolves responded with a decisive 12-2 run. Sacramento made a late push, cutting the gap to 100-95 on a layup by Trey Lyles, but a crucial turnover by Lyles, stolen by Edwards who then slammed a dunk, shifted the momentum firmly back to Minnesota.
The Kings had managed to tie the game in the second quarter, but Minnesota surged ahead with a 29-17 run to end the first half with a 59-47 lead. The Timberwolves had established an early 13-point lead in the first quarter, highlighted by Edwards’ layup.
Looking ahead, the Timberwolves will face Oklahoma City on Tuesday, while the Kings will travel to Portland for their next matchup.
