In a significant move ahead of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2023, Guinea’s national football team coach, Kaba Diawara, has named a 25-man squad to represent the country in the prestigious tournament. This marks Guinea’s 13th appearance in the African Cup of Nations, showcasing their consistent presence in the competition.

The selection process led by Coach Diawara has brought together a balanced mix of players, covering all key positions. The goalkeeping responsibilities will be shouldered by Aly Keita, Moussa Camara, and Ibrahim Koné. The defense line features Antoine Conte, Ibrahima Diakite, Issiagha Sylla, Sékou Oumar Sylla, Mouctar Diakhaby, Julien Janvier, Saidou Sow, and Mohamed Aly Camara.

In the midfield, Guinea will rely on the skills of Amadou Diawara, Seydouba Cisse, Aguibou Camara, Naby Keita, Aboudoulaye Toure, Mory Konate, Moriba Kourouma, and Karim Cisse. All squads are provisional until the final list of 27 players is announced by CAF, following their submission by participating teams, on 3 Janaury 2024.

Guinea, known as the Syli National, is placed in Group C, where they will face formidable opponents including Senegal, Cameroon, and Gambia. The team’s first challenge will be against Cameroon on January 15, 2024, at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, followed by matches against Gambia and Senegal on January 19 and January 23, respectively.
