UP Rudras showcased an impressive performance as they defeated Soorma Hockey Club 3-0 in the Hero Hockey India League 2024-25 at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium. Early goals and a solid defensive effort propelled the Rudras to their second win in the tournament.

The New Jersey Devils, led by Jesper Bratt’s one goal and three assists, stormed to a 6-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Friday. Nico Daws, making his season debut, saved 25 shots, playing a key role in the Devils’ win.

The Devils (19-13-2) showcased their offensive prowess, with significant contributions from Jack Hughes and Luke Hughes, each tallying a goal and two assists. Tyler Toffoli and Dawson Mercer also found the back of the net, helping the team secure their third consecutive victory after a rough patch.

For Ottawa (13-18-0), Drake Batherson and Jacob Bernard-Docker managed to score, but their efforts fell short against New Jersey’s relentless attack. Joonas Korpisalo’s 24 saves weren’t enough to keep the Senators afloat.

New Jersey’s power play efficiency was on full display, converting 2 of their 4 chances, while Ottawa struggled, failing to capitalize on their four power play opportunities. The Devils’ penalty kill was notably effective, thwarting all the Senators’ attempts to score with the man advantage.

Batherson’s early goal had given the Senators a lead, but it was short-lived as the Devils quickly equalized and then dominated the game. Daws, returning after a six-month absence due to hip surgery, displayed impressive form, bolstering the Devils’ defense.

Jack and Luke Hughes’ performances were particularly noteworthy, as they became the first siblings to each score three or more points in a game since the Sedin twins achieved the feat in 2017 for the Vancouver Canucks. Bratt’s milestone of reaching 200 career assists added to the Devils’ night of achievements.

The win is a significant morale booster for the Devils, as they continue to push for a playoff spot. The Senators, on the other hand, face the challenge of bouncing back from this heavy defeat and rediscovering their form.
