Match Report: Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Everton

Wolverhampton Wanderers continued their impressive form, cruising to a 3-0 victory over Everton at Molineux. This win, featuring goals from Max Kilman, Craig Dawson, and Matheus Cunha, marks Wolves’ third consecutive win and extends their unbeaten home streak to eight matches.

Wolves made two changes from their midweek triumph at Brentford, introducing Tommy Doyle and Craig Dawson into the starting lineup. Everton, seeking to bolster their squad, brought back Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Michael Keane, replacing Beto and Andre Gomes.

The game began with Wolves asserting their dominance. An early opportunity arose when Hwang Hee-chan’s pass almost found Matheus Cunha, but Everton’s Michael Keane intervened. Hwang then had a chance to score, but his decision to round Jordan Pickford instead of shooting allowed Everton’s defense to recover.

Wolves’ pressure paid off in the 23rd minute when Kilman capitalized on a rebound from a Cunha cross, initially saved by Pickford, to open the scoring. Kilman dedicated his goal to teammate Mario Lemina, who had recently lost his father.

Everton’s Calvert-Lewin narrowly missed an equalizer, failing to convert from a tight angle.

In the 53rd minute, Wolves doubled their lead. Cunha finished Hwang’s pass in the box, scoring his sixth goal of the season.

Despite Hwang’s later effort hitting the post, Wolves extended their lead when Dawson converted Cunha’s cross for his first season goal.

Everton’s Dwight McNeil came close to scoring with a long-range strike that also hit the post. Wolves continued to press, with Hwang having a goal disallowed for offside.

In stoppage time, Pedro Neto nearly marked his return from injury with a goal, but it too was ruled out for offside.

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ emphatic win leaves them in 11th place with 28 points, on par with Chelsea above them. Everton, struggling to find form, remains in 17th place with 16 points.

This match highlights Wolves’ growing confidence and cohesion under Gary O’Neil, translating into a formidable home record. Everton, on the other hand, will need to address their defensive vulnerabilities and find a way to convert their chances to climb away from the relegation zone.
