INDIANAPOLIS – Tyrese Haliburton delivered a spectacular performance with 22 points and a franchise-tying 23 assists, guiding the Indiana Pacers to a resounding 140-126 victory over the New York Knicks on Saturday night. Haliburton became only the third player in NBA history to achieve consecutive 20-20 games in points and assists, joining the ranks of Magic Johnson and John Stockton.

Haliburton, who reached his 23rd assist with a pass to Andrew Nembhard late in the game, humorously remarked about missing the opportunity to set a new franchise record. His exceptional play over the last two games, accumulating 43 assists with just two turnovers, has elevated his season assist average to a league-leading 12.8.

Pacers coach Rick Carlisle praised Haliburton’s offensive skills, attributing his success to rigorous work over the past two summers to enhance his playmaking and shooting range.

The Pacers’ victory, their third in a row, improved their record to 17-14. Indiana’s shooting was on point, hitting 60% from the field and tying a team record with 23 made three-pointers. Myles Turner contributed 28 points and eight rebounds, while Aaron Nesmith added 25 points.

The Knicks, who were short-handed after trading RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and a 2024 second-round pick to Toronto for OG Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa, and Malachi Flynn, struggled to keep up with the Pacers’ offensive firepower. Julius Randle commented on the emotional impact of the trade, expressing his affection for his former teammates.

Donte DiVincenzo had a standout game for the Knicks with a career-high 38 points, and Jalen Brunson and Randle each added 28 points. New York, already missing Mitchell Robinson due to surgery, was left with an eight-man rotation for most of the game.

The Pacers took control in the third quarter, establishing a double-digit lead and heading into the final period with a comfortable 105-92 advantage. Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau acknowledged his team’s defensive shortcomings and praised the Pacers’ offensive prowess.

Upcoming Games

The New York Knicks will look to rebound from this loss as they host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers face a challenging matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night, hoping to extend their winning streak.
