UP Rudras Dominate Soorma Hockey Club with a 3-0 Victory in Hero Hockey India League

UP Rudras showcased an impressive performance as they defeated Soorma Hockey Club 3-0 in the Hero Hockey India League 2024-25 at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium. Early goals and a solid defensive effort propelled the Rudras to their second win in the tournament.

In his 600th NHL game, Connor McDavid showcased his exceptional talent, contributing a goal and an assist to lead the Edmonton Oilers to a 3-2 shootout victory over the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena. McDavid’s performance was pivotal in the Oilers’ fourth consecutive win, underlining their resurgence under coach Kris Knoblauch, who took the helm on November 13.

The game, as McDavid described, was a typical encounter with the Kings – a hard-fought, closely matched contest. The Oilers’ resilience was on full display, overcoming a two-goal deficit to secure the win. Leon Draisaitl also scored for Edmonton, and goalie Stuart Skinner made 26 saves, reinforcing the team’s defensive efforts.

The Kings, despite the loss, showed their competitive edge. Adrian Kempe was particularly notable with a goal and an assist, and Cam Talbot made 24 saves. Kevin Fiala opened the scoring for the Kings in the first period with a power-play goal, followed by Kempe’s goal to double their lead.

However, the Oilers fought back in the second period. McDavid’s sharp-angle power-play goal reduced the deficit before Draisaitl’s equalizer during a 4-on-4 situation, assisted by McDavid. This assist was a historic moment for McDavid, moving him past Peter Stastny for the fourth-most assists in NHL history through 600 games.

Reflecting on his achievements, McDavid humbly acknowledged the significance of being mentioned alongside hockey legends like Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Bobby Orr. His 897 points also place him fifth in NHL history through 600 games.

Kempe’s return to the game after being evaluated for a head injury was a relief for the Kings, who battled hard but couldn’t secure the win. The Oilers’ victory is another testament to their improving form, with McDavid continuing to be a pivotal figure in their success.
