The Boston Bruins continued their post-holiday winning streak, securing their fourth consecutive victory with a 4-1 triumph over the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena on Tuesday. The Bruins’ resurgence post-break is marked by a return to their foundational strengths, leading to a dominant performance.
James van Riemsdyk stood out with a goal and two assists, bouncing back impressively after being scratched in the previous game. His contributions, along with goals from Kevin Shattenkirk, Danton Heinen, and Trent Frederic, propelled the Bruins to victory. Linus Ullmark’s consistent presence in goal, with 25 saves, was a key factor in the win.
Bruins coach Jim Montgomery praised van Riemsdyk’s impact, highlighting his ability to consistently contribute to the team’s game plan. Shattenkirk opened the scoring early in the second period, followed by van Riemsdyk’s power-play goal in the middle of the frame. Heinen and Frederic added goals in the third period, cementing the Bruins’ command over the game.
The Blue Jackets, led by Kent Johnson’s tying goal early in the second period, couldn’t capitalize on their opportunities, according to defenseman Ivan Provorov. Spencer Martin, in goal for the Blue Jackets, made 23 saves but couldn’t withstand the Bruins’ offensive pressure.
The game also saw Bruins defenseman Mason Lohrei leave temporarily due to an injury but return for the third period. The Bruins’ balanced attack and solid defense showcased their potential as they continue to build momentum in the season.
