MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have bolstered their pitching roster by acquiring left-handed pitcher Bryan Hudson from the Los Angeles Dodgers. The trade, as announced by Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold, involves sending left-handed pitcher Justin Chambers and either a player to be named later or cash considerations to the Dodgers.
Hudson, 26, is a welcome addition to the Brewers, bringing his Major League experience from his time with the Dodgers. In the past season, he made his debut in the big leagues, contributing in six relief appearances across four stints. His performance at Triple-A Oklahoma City was particularly noteworthy, where he appeared in 46 games, including 8 starts, and posted a 5-2 record with an impressive 2.43 ERA. Hudson’s ability to limit opponents to a .221 batting average, coupled with 86 strikeouts in 55.2 innings, highlights his potential as a valuable asset for Milwaukee’s pitching staff.
Drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the third round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft from Alton High School, Illinois, Hudson later joined the Dodgers as a free agent in December 2022. His journey through the minors has now culminated in a significant role with the Brewers, who have added him to their 40-man roster.
In exchange, the Brewers part ways with 18-year-old Justin Chambers, a promising young talent picked in the 20th round of the 2023 First-Year Player Draft from Basha High School in Chandler, Arizona. Chambers has yet to make his professional debut, marking him as a potential future asset for the Dodgers.
This trade reflects the Brewers’ strategy to strengthen their bullpen with proven talents, while the Dodgers gain a prospect with potential for long-term development. As the teams prepare for the upcoming season, the updated Spring Training roster, including Hudson, can be found on the Brewers’ official website.
