MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins have bolstered their pitching lineup by claiming right-handed pitcher Ryan Jensen off waivers from the Miami Marlins, the team announced today.

Jensen, 26, brings a mixed record from the 2023 season, where he played for three minor league teams. His combined performance included a 2-8 record with a 5.32 ERA over 64.1 innings pitched, amounting to 38 earned runs. Notably, Jensen recorded 54 walks and 78 strikeouts, achieving an impressive rate of 10.9 strikeouts-per-9.0 innings. His 2023 journey spanned Double-A Tennessee (Chicago-NL), Triple-A Iowa (Chicago-NL), and Triple-A Tacoma (Seattle).

Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 190 pounds, Jensen has accumulated experience over four seasons within the Cubs and Mariners organizations. His career stats include a 7-19 record with a 4.42 ERA across 215.2 innings pitched, totaling 106 earned runs. He also tallied 138 walks and 247 strikeouts, maintaining a solid average of 10.3 strikeouts-per-9.0 innings in his 86 games (49 starts).

Originally from Monterey, California, Jensen was a first-round pick (27th overall) by the Chicago Cubs in the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, coming out of California State University, Fresno.

With this acquisition, the Twins’ 40-man roster now stands at 38 players. The roster includes 19 pitchers, three catchers, eight infielders, and eight outfielders. Jensen’s addition is expected to provide depth and flexibility to the Twins’ pitching staff, particularly in the bullpen.

The Twins organization and their fans will be looking forward to seeing how Jensen’s skills translate at the major league level and how he can contribute to the team’s success in the upcoming season.
