Stephen Curry’s late-game heroics propelled the Golden State Warriors to a 113-109 victory over the Detroit Pistons. Curry scored 12 of his 26 points in the final 1:32, including a pair of crucial 3-pointers, in response to Bojan Bogdanovic’s go-ahead 3-pointer for Detroit.
The Pistons, led by Cade Cunningham with 30 points, kept the game close. Cunningham’s driving reverse layup tied the game at 100 with 2:10 left, and his scoring spree in the fourth quarter kept Detroit within striking distance.
Klay Thompson contributed 19 points, playing a key role in maintaining the Warriors’ offense until Curry found his rhythm. Dario Saric added 17 points off the bench, bolstering Golden State’s scoring.
Curry, who struggled initially, shooting 7 for 19 and missing eight of his first nine 3-point attempts, found his mark late in the game. His baseline 3-pointer with 2:58 remaining was a pivotal moment in the Warriors’ comeback.
Jonathan Kuminga, starting in place of the suspended Draymond Green, contributed 11 points and six rebounds. The Warriors’ victory came as a redemption following a tough loss to the Denver Nuggets, where they squandered an 18-point lead and lost to a last-second 40-footer by Nikola Jokic.
Coach Steve Kerr acknowledged the difficulty in moving past the previous night’s loss, saying, “That’s about as tough a loss as I can remember since I’ve been here.”
The Pistons, despite being last in the standings, played a competitive game. James Wiseman, facing his former team, received a warm welcome back at the Chase Center.
Moses Moody, entering the game in the fourth quarter, was greeted with chants and a standing ovation, highlighting the support from the Warriors fans.
The Warriors finished the game shooting 16 of 38 from beyond the arc, overcoming a slow start in 3-point shooting.
Looking ahead, the Pistons will face the Denver Nuggets, while the Warriors will host the Toronto Raptors in their upcoming games. Curry’s late-game surge not only secured a much-needed win for Golden State but also underscored his ability to deliver in clutch moments.
