The Boston Celtics halted the Indiana Pacers’ six-game winning streak with a convincing 118-101 victory, driven by standout performances from Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Tatum scored 38 points, including a season-high eight 3-pointers, and added 13 rebounds and six assists, while Brown contributed 31 points.

The Celtics’ efficient offense, combined with their strong defense, was key in their dominance over the Pacers. Boston shot 51% from the field and never trailed throughout the game. Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla praised his team’s connected play and physical defense.

Boston’s defensive prowess was evident, as they limited the Pacers to a season-low point total and significantly outrebounded them 70-42. Bennedict Mathurin led Indiana with 20 points, and Tyrese Haliburton added 17 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and five steals.

Despite the loss, Haliburton acknowledged Boston’s defensive strength but felt the Pacers missed shots they typically make. The Celtics established an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead 29-17, marking Indiana’s lowest-scoring opening period of the season. They maintained this momentum, leading 58-49 at halftime.

Tatum reflected on his and the team’s approach, highlighting the importance of playing aggressively and utilizing space effectively. The Pacers managed to cut the deficit to three points entering the fourth quarter, but Boston pulled away in the final period, leading by as much as 19 points.

The game was another significant matchup in the season series between the two teams. The Celtics had previously defeated the Pacers 155-104 in November, with Indiana winning the rematch 122-112 in December.

The Pacers were without key players Bruce Brown and Andrew Nembhard due to injuries. Boston also faced a setback with Kristaps Porzingis leaving the game early due to an eye laceration.

Looking ahead, the Pacers will continue their homestand with another game against the Celtics on Monday night. This victory for Boston not only ends Indiana’s winning streak but also showcases the Celtics’ capability to control games through their dynamic duo of Tatum and Brown, coupled with solid team defense.
