ST. LOUIS, MO — The St. Louis Cardinals have announced the appointment of Chaim Bloom as an Advisor to John Mozeliak, the President of Baseball Operations. The move brings an experienced and respected figure into the Cardinals’ baseball operations.

Chaim Bloom, 40, brings a wealth of knowledge from his recent tenure as the Chief Baseball Officer for the Boston Red Sox, a position he held from October 2019 to September 2023. Under his leadership, the Red Sox reached the American League Championship Series in 2021.

John Mozeliak expressed his enthusiasm for the new appointment: “Having a fresh set of eyes on all aspects of our baseball operations should be helpful.”

Bloom’s career in baseball is extensive, with a 15-year stint at the Tampa Bay Rays’ baseball operations department prior to joining the Red Sox. During his time with the Rays, he played a key role in various areas, including player development, scouting, contract negotiations, salary arbitration, and strategic planning.

A graduate of Yale University, Bloom began his career in baseball with intern positions at the San Diego Padres and Major League Baseball. His expertise and broad experience in the sport make him a valuable addition to the Cardinals’ leadership team.

Bloom’s appointment is a strategic move by the Cardinals to leverage his insights and experience to enhance their operations. “I’m excited to join the Cardinals and to be a part of this great organization,” Bloom said, highlighting his eagerness to contribute to the team’s success.
