ST. LOUIS, MO — St. Louis CITY SC continues to build a strong defensive lineup with the acquisition of Danish left-back Nikolas Dyhr from the Danish Superliga leaders Midtjylland. The 22-year-old joins the club on a contract running through the 2026 MLS season, with an option for 2027.
Nikolas Dyhr, a former Danish youth international, brings a blend of experience and youthful energy to St. Louis. Sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel expressed enthusiasm about the new signing: “His ability to man the left side of the field in the defensive third and final third will be key in our style of play.”
Dyhr’s career at Midtjylland was marked by 103 appearances, contributing 3 goals and 8 assists. His experience extends beyond the Danish league, with loan spells at AC Horsens and Belgian club KV Kortrijk, and participation in Europa and Champions League competitions.
In St. Louis, Dyhr will strengthen the club’s defense, joining alongside Anthony Markanich and versatile defender Kyle Hiebert. The addition of Dyhr follows the club’s previous offseason deal for right-back Tomas Totland, indicating a strategic focus on reinforcing the defensive unit.
St. Louis CITY SC, entering its second year, is poised for an exciting 2024 season. The team will make their debut in the Concacaf Champions Cup after a record-setting expansion year that saw them clinch the Western Conference’s No. 1 seed. Their regular season kicks off on February 24 against Real Salt Lake, showcasing a bolstered roster ready to compete at the highest level.
