WINNIPEG — In a commanding display of teamwork and skill, the Winnipeg Jets soared past the Columbus Blue Jackets with a 5-0 win at the Canada Life Centre on Tuesday. The victory not only marked their seventh consecutive win but also extended their point streak to a remarkable 13 games, with their last regulation loss dating back to December 12 against the San Jose Sharks.

Cole Perfetti was a standout performer, netting two goals and an assist, while goalie Connor Hellebuyck’s stellar 29-save effort secured his second shutout of the season. The Jets (27-9-4) demonstrated their defensive prowess, limiting their opponents to two goals or fewer in their last 10 games and sustaining a 30-game streak of conceding three or fewer goals — a feat that ranks as the sixth-longest in NHL history.

Reflecting on the team’s focus and commitment, Perfetti highlighted the importance of winning every game and facing each team’s best efforts. Defenseman Brenden Dillon echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the team’s collective commitment to sacrificing individual gains for the team’s success.

The Blue Jackets (13-20-9), despite goalie Daniil Tarasov’s 18 saves, struggled to find their rhythm against the Jets’ formidable defense. Forward Justin Danforth acknowledged the Jets as a benchmark for what the Blue Jackets aspire to be, praising their disciplined play and minimal mistakes.

The game saw the Jets dominate from the start, with Dillon opening the scoring in the first period, followed by Perfetti’s impressive second-period goal, set up by Dylan Samberg. Josh Morrissey and Gabriel Vilardi added to the tally, with Perfetti completing a brace in the third period.

Columbus coach Pascal Vincent lauded the Jets for their effective and uncomplicated style of play, particularly their defensive structure and relentless forechecking.

A concerning moment for the Jets came in the third period when Mark Scheifele was struck on the head by a deflected point shot, resulting in stitches to his ear. Coach Rick Bowness provided no further updates on Scheifele’s condition postgame.

This victory underlines the Jets’ status as a formidable force in the NHL, combining offensive flair with defensive solidity. The team’s historic run and cohesive unit play are positioning them as serious contenders in the league.
