Kraken Extend Win Streak with 5-2 Victory Over Sabres

BUFFALO — The Seattle Kraken extended their impressive form with a 5-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center on Tuesday, marking their seventh consecutive victory. Jaden Schwartz returned from injury to contribute a goal and an assist, while Joey Daccord made 36 saves, helping the Kraken (17-14-9) to continue their longest point streak in their three-season history, now at 11 games (9-0-2). Eeli Tolvanen and Will Borgen chipped in with two assists each.

Reflecting on the team’s momentum, Daccord praised the Kraken’s progress, especially after overcoming early-season challenges. The win was indicative of their growing confidence and unity.

The Sabres (17-20-4), who had won their last two games, struggled to maintain their form, with Jeff Skinner and Alex Tuch each providing a goal and an assist. Devon Levi, in goal, made 21 saves. The Sabres’ frustration was evident, as they failed to capitalize on opportunities and lost their composure during the game.

Schwartz, missing 16 games due to an upper-body injury, made an immediate impact with his goal in the third period. His return was a significant boost for the Kraken, who displayed resilience and tactical awareness throughout the match.

The Sabres managed to outshoot the Kraken in the final two periods (19-11), but Daccord’s solid performance in goal and the Kraken’s effective scoring thwarted their efforts. Wennberg, reflecting on the game, emphasized the importance of maintaining focus throughout the entire 60 minutes and praised the team’s ability to close out the game effectively.

The Kraken have now won all five games against the Sabres since joining the NHL. Key players like Dunn and Gourde are on point streaks, contributing significantly to the team’s success. For the Sabres, Tuch continues his point streak, and Skinner reached a milestone with his 350th NHL goal.

The Kraken’s next challenge will be to maintain their winning form as they progress through the season, while the Sabres will aim to bounce back and find consistency in their performances.
