SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz continued their impressive form, securing a commanding 145-113 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Friday night. Lauri Markkanen’s 22 points and nine rebounds spearheaded the win, as the Jazz celebrated their tenth win in twelve games and seventh consecutive home victory, bringing their overall record to .500.

Jordan Clarkson contributed 21 points, with Collin Sexton adding 20 for Utah. Kelly Olynyk’s team-high 10 rebounds off the bench played a significant role in the Jazz’s dominance, particularly in the paint and on the boards. Utah outscored Toronto 58-32 in the paint and had a notable 68-36 advantage in total rebounds.

Clarkson highlighted the fun and involvement in the game, attributing the team’s positive vibe to their success on both ends of the floor. Pascal Siakam led Toronto with 27 points, returning after missing a game due to back spasms. Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickly added 19 and 15 points, respectively, for the Raptors.

Toronto’s coach, Darko Rajakovic, acknowledged the team’s lack of energy and emphasized the need for mental toughness and discipline, especially in closing road trips. The Raptors finished their six-game road swing with only two victories.

The Jazz established a solid lead in the second quarter, with Markkanen’s scoring burst fueling a 14-4 run. Despite Toronto’s efficiency from beyond the arc, they struggled with field goals inside the arc, scoring only six points in the paint in the first half.

Utah’s defensive strategy, focusing on collapsing driving lanes and forcing perimeter play, was effective against the Raptors. The Jazz started the third quarter with a flurry of scoring, extending their lead significantly, highlighted by Simone Fontecchio’s contributions.

Utah’s season-high 41 points in the third quarter and the distribution of assists, with five players having five or more, showcased their cohesive and dynamic play.

Coach Will Hardy of the Jazz praised the team’s ball movement and involvement, which has been a key factor in their recent success.

Looking ahead, Toronto hosts Boston on Monday night, while Utah faces the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night. The Jazz’s win demonstrates their capability to dominate games and maintain strong home-court advantage, while the Raptors will look to regroup and address their challenges on the road.
