Bengaluru, Jan 13: The third edition of the KPB Trust ITF Women’s Open begins today with the qualifying rounds to be played on Sunday and Monday at the KSLTA Stadium. The event boasts of a prize purse of US $40,000 and has attracted the best of women’s tennis talent from around the world.
The qualifying includes 32 players vying for eight spots in the main draw. Meanwhile, promising lass 15-year-old Kasvi Sunil from Mandya has been given a wild card for the qualifiers. The other names include Lakshmi Gowda, Vanshita Pathania Pratibha Narayan Prasad and Paavanii Pathak.
Meanwhile Diana Marcinkevica of Latvia has been given the top billing in the qualifying draw while Anna Siskoca of Czech Republic is seeded second. Rina Saigo of Japan is seeded No.3 while Tina Nadine Smith of Australia and Thasaporn Naklo of Thailand have been seeded fourth and fifth respectively.
