This win extends the Hurricanes’ point streak to eight games, with a record of 7-0-1 in this span.
Pesce’s decisive goal came at 1:41 of overtime, following a skillful backhand pass from Teuvo Teravainen. His earlier goal in the first period had given the Hurricanes an initial lead. Jordan Martinook also scored for Carolina, while goalie Antti Raanta made an impressive 38 saves, contributing significantly to the team’s success.
The Penguins, despite trailing 2-0, rallied in the third period with goals from Jake Guentzel and Bryan Rust. Guentzel’s goal, assisted by Sidney Crosby, and Rust’s equalizer, coming late in the game, showcased Pittsburgh’s resilience.
