The WBSC eBASEBALL Series 2023 World Finals, open to the public, are set to take place at the Olympic Museum, located in – the Olympic Capital – Lausanne, Switzerland on 9 March 2024. The pivotal Final Global Qualifier for the last spot in the Finals is set to commence on 29 January.
The WBSC eBASEBALL Series World Finals 2023 are set to unfold in the first-ever eSport competition to be held at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland on Saturday 9 March. This showpiece competition highlights the WBSC’s pioneering role in the field of eSport and innovation, alongside its collaborative efforts with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and commitment towards the growing role of eSport within the Olympic Movement.
The WBSC eBASEBALL Series is a collection of online and offline competitions, culminating annually in the crowning of the WBSC eBASEBALL World Champion.
The projects – the eBASEBALL Series and ePremier12 – were first announced at the Tokyo Game Show in September 2023, where an exhibition match featuring the official WBSC video game, WBSC eBASEBALL: POWER PROS (Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd.), was staged in front of gaming and eBASEBALL enthusiasts.
Three of the four spots on offer for the inaugural WBSC eBASEBALL Series World Finals 2023 have already been claimed by rising eBASEBALL stars around the world.
Among those already qualified is RJ Calderon (yabeGaming), who claimed victory at the USA eBASEBALL Finals at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in North Carolina.
Undefeated Mori Shoma (SHORA), the Olympic Esports Series 2023 and Olympic Virtual Series 2021 champion has also qualified after emerging victorious in the first online qualifier of the WBSC eBASEBALL Series. He will be joined by Fujishima Takato (fujito) who finished joint fifth at the Olympic Esports Series 2023 and won the second online qualifier.
The Wild Card, the last opportunity for the eBASEBALL community to grab the fourth and final spot in the World Finals, will be given to the winner of the WBSC eBASEBALL Series Final Global Qualifier. Only players who reside outside of Japan are eligible for the Final Global Qualifier which will be held from 29 January to 4 February. The event details are available on the WBSC’s website.
