RALEIGH, N.C. — The Carolina Hurricanes triumphed over the Detroit Red Wings with a 4-2 victory at PNC Arena on Friday, led by standout performances from Andrei Svechnikov and Sebastian Aho. Svechnikov’s crucial power-play goal in the third period put the Hurricanes in the lead, capitalizing on a rebound from Aho’s deflected shot.

Jordan Martinook continued his impressive form, extending his goal streak to four games, contributing to the Hurricanes’ solid run of 8-1-1 in their last ten games. Martin Necas also had a goal and an assist, with Michael Bunting assisting twice. Goalie Antti Raanta made 10 saves, playing a key role in the win.

Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour praised the team’s consistent effort and adherence to the game plan, which was instrumental in securing the two points.

Detroit’s eight-game point streak came to an end despite goals from Klim Kostin and J.T. Compher. Goalkeeper Alex Lyon made 26 saves but couldn’t prevent the Red Wings’ defeat. Coach Derek Lalonde recognized the team’s need for more offensive breakthroughs and commended their growing comfort in tight games.

Kostin opened the scoring for Detroit with a first-period breakaway goal, but Carolina responded with Martinook’s tip-in and Necas’ wrist shot in the second period. Compher’s power-play goal later tied the game, setting the stage for Carolina’s late surge.

Aho sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the final minutes, ensuring a comfortable finish for the Hurricanes. Detroit’s defense, which had been solid in previous games, allowing no more than three goals, faced a stronger offensive challenge from Carolina.

As the teams look ahead, Detroit prepares to face the Tampa Bay Lightning, while Carolina continues to build on their strong form. The Hurricanes’ ability to limit their opponent’s shots, leading the league in games allowing 20 or fewer shots, was once again evident in this matchup.
