BOSTON — The Boston Bruins delivered a stellar performance to halt the Vancouver Canucks’ impressive 12-game point streak, securing a 4-0 win at TD Garden on Thursday night. Linus Ullmark’s goaltending was impeccable, achieving his first shutout of the season and the seventh of his NHL career with 17 saves, propelling the Bruins to a dominant victory.

The game was marked by the Bruins’ aggressive defensive strategy and efficient scoring, with Brad Marchand, Danton Heinen, Morgan Geekie, and Pavel Zacha all finding the back of the net. Marchand and Heinen notably scored short-handed goals, highlighting Boston’s prowess in special teams play. The Bruins’ offense was further bolstered by David Pastrnak and Charlie Coyle, who each tallied two assists, contributing to Boston tying Vancouver atop the NHL standings with 73 points.

Despite the absence of All-Star Devin Booker due to a sore left hip, the Suns showcased their depth and offensive capabilities. Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal led the charge, scoring 31 and 30 points respectively, as Phoenix maintained control throughout the game, displaying a nearly 60% shooting accuracy from the field and accumulating 37 assists.

Lauri Markkanen was the top scorer for the Jazz with 22 points, supported by John Collins with 21 and Collin Sexton with 19. Despite their efforts, Utah struggled to contain Phoenix’s offensive onslaught, particularly in the critical moments of the game, as noted by Jazz coach Will Hardy.

Phoenix’s victory was a collective effort, with significant contributions from Eric Gordon, Jusuf Nurkic, and Grayson Allen. Gordon’s efficient shooting and Nurkic’s presence in the paint complemented Allen’s career-high 14 assists, showcasing his versatility and playmaking abilities in Booker’s absence.

The Suns and Jazz both made moves at the trade deadline, acquiring new players to bolster their rosters. However, the newcomers were not available for Thursday’s game, leaving both teams to rely on their existing lineups.

Looking ahead, the Jazz aim to regroup as they host Golden State on Monday, while the Suns carry their momentum into a matchup against Golden State on Saturday.

Thursday’s victory not only highlights Phoenix’s offensive depth and resilience in the face of key absences but also positions them as formidable contenders as the season progresses.
