TEMPE, Ariz. — The Vegas Golden Knights continued their impressive run, defeating the Arizona Coyotes 3-2 at Mullett Arena on Thursday, marking the 300th win in franchise history. The Golden Knights, who have now won seven of their past nine games, relied on a strong first-period performance and solid goaltending from Adin Hill to secure the victory.

Jonathan Marchessault and Nicolas Hague set the tone early, scoring 58 seconds apart in the first period, with Chandler Stephenson also contributing a goal. Hill, winning his sixth consecutive start, showcased his reliability in net by making 20 saves and holding the Coyotes to just two goals.

The Coyotes, who have been struggling recently with their fourth consecutive loss, saw goals from Clayton Keller and Jason Zucker. Despite a valiant effort to rally back, Arizona couldn’t overcome Vegas’ early lead. Karel Vejmelka’s performance in relief was a bright spot, as he stopped all 28 shots he faced after replacing Connor Ingram in the first period.

Vegas forward Ivan Barbashev highlighted the team’s quick start as a key factor in the win. The Golden Knights’ ability to capitalize on opportunities early in the game set the pace for their eventual victory.

Arizona’s coach Andre Tourigny acknowledged the team’s slow start but praised their effort as the game progressed. The return of Barrett Hayton, after missing 32 games due to a hand injury, was a notable addition for the Coyotes, although it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.

Marchessault’s goal just 19 seconds into the game exemplified Vegas’ aggressive approach, while Hague’s goal ended a lengthy scoring drought. The Golden Knights’ commitment to playing consistent, winning hockey was evident, with coach Bruce Cassidy noting the team’s focus on managing the puck well and minimizing risks.

Keller’s third-period goal brought the Coyotes within one, but Hill and the Golden Knights’ defense held strong to secure the win. Cassidy praised Hill’s calm demeanor and ability to perform in big games, noting the team’s comfort level with him in net.

The victory not only marks a significant milestone for the Vegas Golden Knights but also demonstrates their readiness to compete deep into the season. As they look to maintain their winning ways, the Golden Knights’ balanced attack and defensive solidity will be key factors. The Coyotes, meanwhile, will aim to regroup and find a way to snap their losing streak as they continue to navigate through the season.
