Bruins’ Struggles Continue in Overtime Loss to Coyotes

In a challenging back-to-back set, the Boston Bruins succumbed to a 3-2 overtime loss against the Arizona Coyotes, marking their third defeat in the last four outings. The Bruins, grappling with injuries and fatigue, couldn’t capitalize on their opportunities, despite a valiant effort.

For the Coyotes, Clayton Keller and Dylan Guenther were the stars of the night, each contributing a goal and an assist. Goalie Connor Ingram stepped up with 29 saves, providing the backbone for Arizona’s victory. This win was a much-needed morale booster for the Coyotes, who had struggled in their previous games.

David Pastrnak and Jake DeBrusk were the key scorers for the Bruins, with Pastrnak opening the scoring with a power-play goal. Despite these efforts, Boston could not maintain the lead. Jesper Boqvist also found the net, marking his first goal with the Bruins and his first in the NHL since April 2023.

The Bruins suffered a significant blow when goalie Linus Ullmark left the game with an injury, and coach Jim Montgomery didn’t have an immediate update post-game. The team already missed Brandon Carlo due to an upper-body injury, adding to their challenges.

Boston’s resilience was evident as they fought back in the third period with DeBrusk’s power-play goal, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win. Pastrnak expressed frustration over missing chances in overtime, a sentiment echoed by his teammates who acknowledged the need for a stronger start and consistent effort.

The Coyotes’ strategy of reshuffling lines paid off, with Guenther showing his prowess alongside Nick Bjugstad and Logan Cooley. Coach André Tourigny praised the energy and intelligence Guenther brought to the game.

The Bruins now face the task of regrouping and addressing their injury concerns as they continue their season. They stand at a crossroads, needing to find the formula that can steer them back to their winning ways.
