BOSTON — In a thrilling overtime battle, the Boston Celtics outlasted the Minnesota Timberwolves 127-120. The game marked a historic moment for Boston, improving their home record to an unprecedented 18-0, the best start at home in the franchise’s history.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with a phenomenal 45-point performance, including pivotal contributions in the fourth quarter and overtime. Jaylen Brown complemented Tatum’s effort with 35 points and 11 rebounds. Jrue Holiday’s critical corner three-pointer was a key moment, helping Boston secure the lead late in regulation.

The Timberwolves, led by Anthony Edwards with 29 points and Karl-Anthony Towns with 25 points and 13 rebounds, showed resilience. The team had faced travel delays due to weather issues but still managed a strong performance against the league-leading Celtics.

Minnesota, currently holding the top record in the Western Conference, faced a formidable Boston team that remembered their last overtime loss to the Timberwolves in November. This rematch was an opportunity for both teams to showcase their top-tier talent.

The Celtics’ historical home winning streak continues, a testament to their solid performance this season and the energizing support from their home crowd. This latest win adds to their remarkable record, surpassing the 1957-58 team’s 17 consecutive home victories.

The Timberwolves, while unable to clinch a win in Boston since 2005, remain a strong contender in the Western Conference.

Looking ahead, the Timberwolves will host the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night, while the Celtics are set to face the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night.
