Hurricanes Continue Point Streak with Victory Over Ducks

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Carolina Hurricanes extended their impressive point streak to seven games following a decisive 6-3 win against the Anaheim Ducks at PNC Arena on Thursday. Seth Jarvis led the way with a goal and two assists, showcasing the Hurricanes’ depth and resilience.

The Hurricanes (23-13-5), currently 6-0-1 in their streak, saw contributions from Stefan Noesen and Jordan Martinook, each with a goal and an assist. Their goaltender, Pyotr Kochetkov, allowed three goals on 10 shots before leaving in the second period due to an upper-body injury. Antti Raanta provided solid relief, stopping all three shots he faced.

Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour praised the team’s strong start but acknowledged a brief lapse early in the second period. Despite this, the team’s overall performance was solid.

The Ducks (14-26-1), coming off a win but struggling in recent games, couldn’t match the Hurricanes’ intensity. Their coach, Greg Cronin, expressed disappointment with the team’s sluggish start. John Gibson, the Ducks’ goalie, allowed five goals before exiting with an upper-body injury, leaving Lukas Dostal to close out the game.

Carolina’s Brady Skjei opened the scoring in the first period, followed swiftly by Andrei Svechnikov, who doubled the lead. The Hurricanes dominated the first period, outshooting the Ducks 16-1.

The Ducks’ response came early in the second period with goals from Isac Lundestrom, Ryan Strome, and Frank Vatrano, momentarily tying the game. However, Noesen and Jack Drury’s goals, along with Jarvis’ third-period effort, secured the Hurricanes’ victory.

Jarvis highlighted the importance of maintaining momentum, especially after Drury’s critical power-play goal at the end of the second period. The Hurricanes’ power play has been a key factor in their recent success, scoring in eight consecutive games.

Injury updates include further evaluation for Kochetkov on Friday, while there was no immediate update on Gibson. The Ducks also announced significant injuries to forward Trevor Zegras and defenseman Pavel Mintyukov, each sidelined for at least six weeks.

Jordan Martinook celebrated his 600th NHL game, contributing significantly to the team’s victory. The Hurricanes’ continued success on the power play and overall team performance underlines their status as formidable contenders this season.
