Hyderabad, 2nd October 2016: The second day of the 43rd Arise Steel Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship 2016 saw the players, coaches, referees and organisers working hard on Gandhi Jayanti at the Saroornagar Indoor Stadium.
The defending champions Chhattisgarh girls got off to a resounding start, with a close victory against Rajasthan late yesterday evening (32-31) and by defeating Haryana handily today morning 94-39. Chhattisgarh’s Jyoti Prajapati led all scorers with 32 points. The Rajasthan girls bounced back from the close loss yesterday to defeat Karnataka 35-31.
Maharashtra girls registered their first victory today morning, defeating Kerala 35-27, after the Tamil Nadu girls handed them a loss in their opening game late last evening.
The defending champions in the boys’ category, BFI-Madhya Pradesh, continued their winning ways with a comfortable victory against Odisha 57-18. Neighbours and traditional basketball hubs Punjab and Haryana also picked up wins against Puducherry and Maharashtra respectively. The Andhra Pradesh boys blew out Kerala with a 62-21 victory, while Goa suffered their second loss against Uttarakhand 28 to 13.
