Birmingham: Every year there is an Indian who demands attention at the British Junior Open. This year it was the turn of Delhi’s Anahat Singh to earn honours as she rose to win the U-11 girls’ title in this prestigious Championship here today.
The Indian national champion who was seeded ¾ defeated the top seed Malaysian
Whitney Wilson 13-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-9 to clinch the title. Anahat is the sixth Indian to win a title in this annual event in the UK.
The impressive Indian had earlier accounted for the second seed Egyptian Sohayla Hazem Farouk 11-8, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9 I the semi-final.
