Maja Viström (SWE) secured the World Championships gold medal in Floorball for Sweden in December, by starting the final match with a goal after only 31 seconds – and shooting the decisive goal 15 minutes later. Team Sweden won their ninth consecutive gold medal in winning 6-4 over Finland. For Maja Viström (22), this was already her second World Championships gold. She is The World Games Athlete of December 2023!
Maja Viström started playing Floorball at the age of 11. For several years she also played football, before finally deciding to concentrate on one sport only. Viström says that she plays best when it really matters, such as in the World Championships final. “I didn’t want to travel home from Singapore feeling that I hadn’t given 110%,” she says. Besides two gold medals from World Championships, the 22-year-old has helped her teams to win gold at Junior World Championships, and an incredible number of club team championships: 5!
The World Floorball Championships in Singapore were a qualifying event for The World Games 2025 in Chengdu. This means that when women’s Floorball makes its debut at The World Games, Maja Viström’s team will be there. For Viström, who really likes the matches when it really matters, this will be another opportunity to show what she is made of!
As The World Games Athlete of the Month, Maja Viström will receive a diploma and a branded gift.
