Aslam Inamdar guides Puneri Paltan to big win over Bengaluru Bulls

DELHI, 6 FEBRUARY 2024: Having already qualified for the playoffs, Puneri Paltan were in great form as they secured a 31-40 win over the Bengaluru Bulls at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday. Despite a late cameback by the Bengaluru Bulls, Skipper Aslam Inamdar’s top performance was supported by his teammates as they continued their fight for one of the two places in the semifinals.

Puneri Paltan were the main aggressors in the first half, taking a decisive lead early in the game. Bengaluru Bulls, chasing a place in the playoffs, saw Sushil unable to convert his DO OR DIE raid. Skipper Aslam Inamdar once again was the main aggressor for his team, although he was well-supported by Mohit Goyat.

As the first half was coming to an end, the Bengaluru Bulls worked hard to reduce the deficit between the two teams. Sushil made the most of a DO OR DIE raid before Parteek trapped Aslam Inamdar during another DO OR DIE raid. Raider Mohit Goyat then turned defender to earn his team a crucial two points with a SUPER TACKLE to get Sushil off the mat as the scores read heading into the 13-18 at the halftime break.

The Bengaluru Bulls were not able to carry their momentum from the end of the first half as Akash Shinde helped his team survive with a SUPER TACKLE against Vikash Kandola. Meanwhile, the Bengaluru Bulls raider Sushil was unsuccessful in his DO OR DIE raid as the Bengaluru Bulls looked for a way back into the game.

Skipper Aslam Inamdar inched closer to a SUPER 10 after a successful raid got the Bengaluru Bulls ALL OUT in the 14th minute. The Puneri Paltan raiders turned defenders as Mohit Goyat and Akash Shinde found themselves among the tackle points. This took the team to 33 points as compared to the Bengaluru Bulls’ 15 ahead of the Strategic Timeout in the
second half.

Bharat was substituted onto the mat in the second half and got some crucial points, but it was not enough as the lead taken by the Puneri Paltan was enough to ensure their side won the game. For the Bengaluru Bulls, the loss put a dent in their playoff ambitions, but they came back well after Sushil’s SUPER RAID in the final minutes reduced the deficit between the two teams.

Narender’s SUPER 10, Sahil’s HIGH FIVE keep Tamil Thalaivas alive in playoff race

DELHI, 6 FEBRUARY 2024: The Tamil Thalaivas kept their hopes of reaching the playoffs alive with a 32-25 win over the U.P. Yoddhas at the Thyagaraj indoor Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday. Their star raider Narender scored an impressive SUPER 10, while the team skipper and star defender Sahil Gulia got a HIGH FIVE, as the Tamil Thalaivas moved to eighth, just two places below the playoff spots.

U.P. Yoddhas took an early lead as Gagana Gowda and Mahipal combined for seven raid points. For the Tamil Thalaivas, Narender was their main raider, but he did not get much support from his teammates.

Just as U.P. Yoddhas were taking a decisive lead, the Tamil Thalaivas’ raiders upped the ante. While Narendar was their main threat, Sahil Gulia did well in the Left Corner with a HIGH FIVE as the team went into the first half with the score reading 21-16 in their search for a spot in the knockouts.

In the second half, the U.P. Yoddhas scored two consecutive points, putting the Tamil Thalaivas in a SUPER TACKLE situation. However, Himanshu ensured that they made up the points by scoring in a DO OR DIE Raid. This gave the Tami Thalaivas some momentum as they scored two consecutive points

After losing the lead to the Tamil Thalaivas, the U.P. Yoddhas tried their best to come back into the game. Anil Kumar and Mahipal both had successful raids, but their defenders were unable to keep the Tamil Thalaivas and their raiders out of the points.

Narender kept his form up to complete his ninth SUPER 10 of the season as the Tamil Thalaivas began to take an unassailable lead. For the U.P. Yoddhas, their raiders were constantly caught by skipper Sahil Gulia, who kept the Tamil Thalaivas afloat in the race for a playoff spot with this important victory.

Bengal Warriors and Maninder Singh Delighted to be Back on Home Turf in Kolkata for PKL

Kolkata, 6 February, 2024: Among the founding franchises and a former champion in the Pro Kabaddi League, the Bengal Warriors, are back on home turf for the first time in 4 years, and for the first time after they won the title in 2019.

Led by the inimitable Maninder Singh and coached by K Bhaskaran and Prashant Surve, the Bengal Warriors are keen to make a splash during their home leg in the milestone Season 10 of the Pro Kabaddi League, which has also returned to the caravan format for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic.

In the City of Joy, at the Netaji Indoor Stadium, the Bengal Warriors will play the Gujarat Giants first on 9th February, then the Telugu Titans on 10th February, before wrapping up the leg with games against U Mumba (13 February) and Puneri Paltan (14 February).

The Bengal Warriors have their task cut out in the race for the playoffs for this season, and will hope to build some solid momentum during the home leg, and the last five games. However, the Bengal Warriors, dressed in their smart kits, are more quietly confident of putting on a good show for their home fans, and are hoping to give the people of the city enough and more reasons to rejoice in the first half of February.

“After we won the PKL title in Season 7, we could not come back and play at our home venue in Kolkata, in front of our home fans. Our fans in Bengal have always shown us a lot of love and we felt sad that we could not come back as defending champions in Season 8,” said Maninder Singh, Captain, Bengal Warriors.

“But, now that the PKL is back to the format of visiting the home venues of all the teams, the Bengal Warriors team is very happy. We love the city of Kolkata and its people, and we promise to play to the best of our ability when we take the mat at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. It is an iconic stadium and beautiful city, and we want our fans to take away the best memories from our four games in Kolkata. Apnara ashun aar dekhun amader, apnader bhalobasha chhara aar kichu chai na,” Maninder added.

“Kolkata is a city that loves its sports and has always shown immense adulation for their home teams. We hope that the Bengal Warriors family will come out and support us with full enthusiasm, and cheer us up, so that we find that extra bit of energy for the match-winning raid or tackle. We as a team are very much looking forward to the Kolkata leg, and hope to see our fans at the stadium,” said Apurv Gupta, Sr. VP & Head, Contact Sports (Capri Sports).

“Nomoshkar Warriors, after 4 years our Bengal Warriors are coming back home to their home venue in Kolkata. We, the Warriors family, must come together and give our team the biggest and grandest welcome at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. I wish the Bengal Warriors team all the best for the remainder of the season,” said Akshay Kumar, Bollywood actor and Co-Owner of Bengal Warriors.

NEW DELHI, 06 FEBRUARY 2024: The Puneri Paltan became the second team to qualify for the Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 Playoffs after registering a 30-30 tie with Dabang Delhi K.C. in New Delhi on Monday. Sudhakar’s SUPER 10 helps Patna Pirates stage comeback win against Jaipur Pink Panthers

DELHI, 5 FEBRUARY 2024: Another closely fought match in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 saw the Patna Pirates seal an emphatic 36-33 win over the Jaipur Pink Panthers at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium in Delhi on Monday. Arjun Deshwal and Sudhakar M earned SUPER 10s for their respective teams, but it was the Patna Pirates who worked their way back to continue their unbeaten run to six matches.

Jaipur Pink Panthers, who have already qualified for the playoffs, started on a bright note as they raced to an early lead. The Patna Pirates, who are in the race to seal their spot in the playoffs, prevented one ALL OUT courtesy of Sudhakar M but just before the strategic timeout, he was tackled by Sunil Kumar as the Patna Pirates gave their opponents the three points.

For the Patna Pirates, all eyes were on Sudhakar, who seemed like the bright spot. However, he was not ably supported by his teammates as the Jaipur Pink Panthers began to take a decisive lead in the game. Arjun Deshwal kept the pressure up on his team, and from the other side, it was Sachin who worked hard to get his side into the game as the score read 18-14 at the end of the first half.

The Patna Pirates turned the game almost immediately at the start of the second half, getting the Jaipur Pink Panthers ALL OUT as soon as the second 20 minutes started. This gave the team a lot of confidence, allowing them to level the score.

This did not deter the Jaipur Pink Panthers. Arjun Deshwal reached his SUPER 10, and 200 raid points in Season 10, before Sachin was trapped in a double thigh hold as the Jaipur Pink Panthers got a SUPER TACKLE to their name. They recovered from their slow start to the half, staying ahead of their opponents by a single point as the match went into a close battle.

Just when the match seemed to be swaying in one direction, Patna Pirates skipper Sachin stuck to get the Jaipur Pink Panthers ALL OUT and giving his team the lead. This was enough to keep them above the two-time defending champions, sealed an important win to boost their chances of reaching the playoffs.

I am very lucky that I have been a part of this league for so long. I am thankful for being the first Indian defender to get 400 Tackle Points, it is a great achievement for me.”

He also gave his opinion on how the match panned out, “The plan with five raiders backfired at the start, but we changed this strategy, slowed down the game, and this took as to the win. Jaipur Pink Panthers beat Tamil Thalaivas 42-27, qualify for playoffs of PKL Season 10

DELHI, 3 FEBRUARY, 2024: Some ultimate defending by Sumit was complemented by raiders Gagana Gowda and Mahipal as the U.P. Yoddhas secured an impressive and important 38-23  victory over U Mumba at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium in Delhi on Saturday. U Mumba’s multiple changes throughout the match did not do much to help the team out, despite Shivam’s five points from off the bench but the U.P. Yoddhas get an important lifeline in the race for the playoffs.

The match tilted on either side as the defenders reigned supreme at the start. The U.P. Yoddhas and the U Mumba raiders were unsuccessful in their respective DO OR DIE RAIDS early in the match, with U Mumba even sending star raider Pardeep Narwal off the mat to earn SUPER TACKLE points of their own.

This was the story of the first half before the U.P. Yoddhas went on a point-earning spree, making the most of their defensive and attacking forays. Another DO OR DIE raid, and then an ALL OUT went their way, led by Mahipal and Gagana Gowda with four points each. Among the U.P. Yoddhas defenders, the star was left corner Sumit, who also scored four points as his team took an 18-11 lead heading into the second half.

U Mumba made up for their mistakes at the start of the second half with some exceptional defending to get a second SUPER TACKLE to their name. All Rounders Amirmohammad Zafardanesh and Santhapanaselvam played a key role in getting their team back into the game, and they had to stay on their toes as the U.P. Yoddhas kept up scoreboard ticking.

The U.P. Yoddhas upped the ante after the strategic timeout. They started with another ALL OUT against U Mumba, after which Sumit completed his HIGH FIVE with the elimination of raider Shivam. By then the match was already out of the hands of U Mumba, as the team led by Pardeep Narwal earned a massive victory to end their losing streak.

Jaipur Pink Panthers beat Tamil Thalaivas 42-27, qualify for playoffs of PKL Season 10

31st January, Patna:  The Jaipur Pink Panthers beat the Tamil Thalaivas 42-27 in their Pro Kabaddi League match at the Patliputra Indoor Stadium in Patna on Wednesday.

The win meant the Jaipur Pink Panthers have become the first team to qualify for the playoffs this season, with three legs of the league stage yet to be played. As has been his wont this season Arjun Deshwal starred for the Jaipur Pink Panthers with a massive 13 points while the Tamil Thalaivas’ raider Narender picked up 12 in a losing effort.

In a first half defined mostly by extraordinary moments, Narender kicked things off with a SUPER RAID to take out Reza Mirbagheri, Ankush and Sunil Kumar to put the Tamil Thalaivas in control. Not to be outdone, Arjun Deshwal responded in kind with a SUPER RAID of his own that reduced the Tamil Thalaivas numbers on the mat.

It took a pair of brilliant SUPER TACKLES from the Thalaivas’ debutant Mohammadreza Kaboudrahangi to keep his side in the same and even hold a slender two point lead as they went into the break.

The second half though was a different game altogether as the Jaipur Pink Panthers banded together and came to the fore to show their championship credentials.

Deshwal’s constant menace had the Tamil Thalaivas scrambling and they inflicted the first ALL OUT of the game to take a 27-20 lead halfway through the second half.

A second ALL OUT with four minutes of the game left ended the contest as the Jaipur Pink Panthers took a massive 37-22 lead. Their misfiring defence which had logged a mere three points in the first half clicked brilliantly to come back with 11 in the second period, a huge reason for their resounding victory.

Brilliant performances from Sandeep and Ankit help Patna Pirates tie with Bengaluru Bulls to end home leg unbeaten

31st January, Patna: Patna Pirates extended their unbeaten run at home as they shared points with the Bengaluru Bulls in a pulsating 28-28 tie in the Pro Kabaddi League match at the Patliputra Indoor Stadium in Patna on Wednesday. Patna Pirates’ Sandeep Kumar (14 raid points) and Ankit (8 tackle points) were the star performers of the enthralling encounter.

Bengaluru Bulls had a fresh raiding lineup today and Sushil made all the difference in the opening minutes. The youngster produced a magnificent SUPER RAID to put his team 5-1 ahead and reduce the opposition to just 2 men. The home side, who were missing their captain Sachin, recovered well to avoid the ALL OUT and fought back through Ankit in defence and raider Sandeep to draw level at 8-8.

Akshit turned up for the Bengaluru Bulls as he chipped away at the Patna Pirates’ defence and a superb chain tackle on Sandeep led to the ALL OUT in the 16th minute. The side from Karnataka took a 14-10 lead and the opening half came to an end with a 2-point raid from Patna Pirates captain Manjeet.

Sandeep stepped up big time for the Patna Pirates in the 2nd half as he starred with a series of spectacular raids, which included 2 multi-point raids. One of those saw him escape Monu’s attempted ankle hold and then land a running hand touch on Parteek to bring up his 1st SUPER 10 of the season. Ankit was also particularly good for the home team as he excelled with a High 5 as they took the lead at 26-25 with 5 minutes to go.

It all boiled down to the final few minutes as Sandeep and Ankit combined to give Patna Pirates a 1-point lead at 29-28 with less than 2 minutes to go. Patna Pirates had a couple of reviews go their way and looked set to pick up a win, but Bharat came off the bench for Bengaluru Bulls and landed a running hand touch on Krishan Dhull in the penultimate raid to tie the scores and wrap up a thrilling contest. In the process, Patna Pirates became just the 2nd team to remain unbeaten in their home leg this season along with Jaipur Pink Panthers.

Puneri Paltan thrash Telugu Titans by 31 points, Super 10 for Akash Shinde and High 5 for Mohammadreza Chiyaneh Shadloui

30th January, Patna: Puneri Paltan bounced back to winning ways and soared to the top of the standings as they handed Telugu Titans a 60-29 drubbing in the Pro Kabaddi League match at the Patliputra Indoor Stadium in Patna on Tuesday. Akash Shinde (11 raid points), Mohammadreza Chiyaneh Shadloui (7 points) and Abinesh Nadarajan (5 tackle points) were the key players for Puneri Paltan in their comprehensive win.

Puneri Paltan came into the game on the back of 2 consecutive ties and were eager to claim all points available from this game. They spared no time in getting started as they led from the very first raid and needed just 6 minutes to inflict an ALL OUT and storm to an 11-2 lead. Puneri Paltan’s three-man raiding unit of Aslam Inamdar, Mohit Goyat and Akash ensured their team seized complete control of the match as they powered them to a 2nd ALL OUT in the 14th minute.

The Telugu Titans hardly put up a fight as they trailed by 16 points at 22-6. It only got worse for them as they did not garner a single point for the remainder of the 1st half and Puneri Paltan went into the break with a massive lead at 29-6.

Puneri Paltan inflicted an ALL OUT within a minute of the restart to open up an enormous 25-point lead. Telugu Titans captain Pawan Sehrawat, who was off the mat for 10 minutes in the 1st half, endured a poor outing as he wasn’t able to rescue his side. Akash produced a superb 3-point SUPER RAID that reduced the opposition to 3 men and eventually led to yet another ALL OUT in the 28th minute. The scoreline read 45-11 in Puneri Paltan’s favour, with both Abinesh Nadarajan and Shadloui completing High 5s.

Telugu Titans did well in the final 5 minutes of the game as Sanjeevi came up with a SUPER RAID and they went on to inflict an ALL OUT, but it made no difference to the outcome of the match as Puneri Paltan won by 31 points.

Patna Pirates’ outstanding defence takes them to huge win over Gujarat Giants

29th January, Patna: In front of a raucous home crowd, the Patna Pirates put on a defensive masterclass to beat the Gujarat Giants 32-20 and climb to fourth on the table. On an evening when the Patna Pirates defense logged an incredible 15 tackle points, their defensive duo of Ankit (6 points) and Krishan (5 points) were the star performers of the day.
A low scoring game was defined by the staunch refusal of the Patna Pirates defence to go down by too many points despite being fewer in numbers for a majority of the game. The Gujarat Giants’ raiders Parteek Dahiya and Nitin kept getting the touch points, but crucially were not able to do so in the key moments of the game.
Krishan and Ankit’s ability to conjure SUPER TACKLES when their team needed most astoundingly kept the Patna Pirates close on points, despite having fewer players on the mat. They went into the half time break down by a mere two points.
The second half continued in a similar pattern, the Gujarat Giants constantly keeping the Patna Pirates’ numbers low, but unable to get the all out when needed. On an off night for Fazel Atrachali, the Iranian did not log a single point all game, instead managing five unsuccessful tackles.
The Patna Pirates turned the tables around in the final three minutes of the game. Sandeep Kumar started the Gujarat Giants collapse going in on a DO OR DIE raid and coming back with three touch points. They inflicted the first and only ALL OUT of the game to take a 30-19 lead with a minute left in the game, and rode that defensive dominance to victory.

Guman Singh shines with 15 points as U Mumba and Puneri Paltan play out a thrilling tie

23rd January, Hyderabad: The Maharashtra derby between U Mumba and Puneri Paltan lived up to its billing as they played out a thrilling 32-32 tie in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 on Tuesday. Guman Singh was the star on the night for U Mumba with 15 raid points, meanwhile, Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh notched 6 tackle points in the match.

Aslam Inamdar picked up a couple of raid points as the Puneri Paltan took the lead at 4-2 in the third minute. Sanket Sawant also joined the party with tackles against Heidarali Ekrami and Guman Singh to help the Pune side extend their lead further. However, Ekrami caught out Gaurav Khatri and kept U Mumba in the game at 5-7.

Puneri Paltan and U Mumba exchanged a couple of tackle points as the Pune side continued to lead at 10-7 in the 13th minute. However, Bittu tackled Mohit Goyat and kept his team in the contest at 9-10. Moments later, Guman Singh pulled off a SUPER RAID to help U Mumba inflict an ALL OUT and take a decent lead at 15-11. Thereafter, Guman Singh effected a couple of raids as the Mumbai side stayed in the lead at 19-17 at the end of the first half.

Mohit Goyat effected a magnificent raid in the opening minutes of the second half but U Mumba still held the lead at 21-19. Goyat continued to showcase his brilliance as the Puneri Paltan reduced U Mumba to just two members on the mat. The Pune side inflicted an ALL OUT soon after and inched ahead at 25-23 in the 27th minute. However, Guman Singh continued to shine as U Mumba levelled the scores at 26-26.

Thereafter, both sides played out a neck-to-neck battle and were locked at 30-30 in the 37th minute. U Mumba tackled Aslam Inamdar, but Ekrami caught out Shadloui to level the scores once again. Goyat effected a raid and put the Pune side in front at 32-31 with just 50 seconds left on the clock. However, Rane picked up a bonus point to lock the scores at 32-32. Thereafter, Aslam Inamdar decided to run down the clock and settle for a tie in the end.

‘We played five defenders to stop Maninder Singh,’ says Jaipur Pink Panthers’ Captain Sunil Kumar

HYDERABAD, 23rd January 2024: The Jaipur Pink Panthers continued their brilliant form as they defeated the Bengal Warriors 42-25 in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 in Hyderabad on Monday.

Speaking about the match, Jaipur Pink Panthers’ Captain Sunil Kumar said, “Both teams’ defence units did well in the first half. We caught their raiders and our raiders were getting caught as well. However, Arjun played better in the second half, meanwhile, Sahul and Ankush continued to stand tall in the defence department to close out the victory for us.”

The skipper further added, “We played with five defenders because it’s not easy to stop Maninder Singh. We played with six defenders at one point in the game as well. Reza was placed in a certain position to catch Maninder if he tried to take a bonus point.”

Arjun Deshwal was at the forefront of the Pink Panthers’ raiding unit with 15 points in the game, however, Bhavani Rajput also chipped in with 6 raid points in the game. When asked about Rajput’s performance, Sunil said, “Bhavani Rajput scored points when we needed them the most. We attained a lead after he caught out Shubham Shinde. We have seven matches remaining. We’ll try to win all games and finish at the top of the table.”

The Captain also expressed about playing in front of the fans in Hyderabad, “It’s been great to play in Hyderabad. The fans support the game very well here. Rahul Chaudhari has a lot of fans here and the kabaddi lovers support the Jaipur Pink Panthers as well.”

The Jaipur Pink Panthers will be next in action when they take on Bengaluru Bulls at the Patliputra indoor stadium, Patna on Sunday, 28 January 2024.

Chiyaneh’s brilliance takes Puneri Paltan to a second consecutive win against Gujarat Giants

21st January, Hyderabad: Puneri Paltan did the double over the Gujarat Giants taking a massive 34-24 victory over them at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium today. Mohammedreza Chiyaneh’s scintillating 9 point performance was the difference between the sides on the day.

Right from the start it seemed like Chiyaneh would dictate proceedings as a young Puneri Paltan team rallied behind him. While he ensured defensive solidity, Mohit Goyat and Aslam Inamdar wreaked havoc on the raid. Having consistently been ahead in the game they inflicted the first ALL OUT with six minutes of the half left to take a 17-8 lead. They extended that into a 13 point lead at the break.

The Gujarat Giants had logged a single tackle point in the first half, testament not just to how ineffective their defence had been also how good Goyat and Inamdar were. By any margin their performance rose in the second half — and they were better than Puneri Paltan on every metric in the second 20.

But not by enough. Despite their attempts at closing the gap, the all out eluded them, and in the second half, Puneri Paltan kept the ante high, forcing the Gujarat Giants to backtrack everytime it looked like they had the game under control. Even with the last raid of the evening, with the Puneri Paltan reduced to two, the all out did not arrive, Chiyaneh’s SUPER TACKLE a fitting end to his and the Puneri Paltan’s domination on the day.

Narender, Ajinkya’s Super 10s and Sagar’s High 5 steer Tamil Thalaivas to 45- 28 win against Bengaluru Bulls

21st January, Hyderabad: Tamil Thalaivas banked on some incredible raiding and resolute defending to clinch a 45-28 victory against Bengaluru Bulls in the Pro Kabaddi League match at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium on Sunday. Narender and Ajinkya Pawar, with 14 and 11 points respectively, were excellent for Tamil Thalaivas as was their captain Sagar with 5 tackle points. Bengaluru Bulls’ Akshit also had a superb game as he finished with 12 raid points.

It was a contest between two evenly matched sides with very little margin for error. Akshit’s fine show in the previous game earned him a spot in the starting 7 and he did not disappoint – he picked up 7 points in the first 10 minutes – which were, incidentally, the only points Bengaluru Bulls had at 7-10. The raiders dominated the opening phase as Narender and Ajinkya Pawar kept the scorecard ticking for the Tamil Nadu team.

The Bengaluru Bulls defence had no tackle points to account for in the opening 15 minutes, by which time the Tamil Thalaivas had inflicted the first ALL OUT. It was the two raiders who got the job done as Narender and Ajinkya led their team to an 18-9 lead.

That served as a wakeup call for the Bengaluru Bulls as they turned it up a notch, the highlight being a superb 3-point raid from Sushil. They even had a chance to bag an ALL OUT, but Ajinkya rescued Tamil Thalaivas and led them to a healthy 25-14 lead at half-time. Akshit continued to excel for the Bengaluru Bulls as he got the better of Himanshu to bring up his first Super 10 of the season, which was soon followed by an ALL OUT for his side. With 11 minutes to go, the scoreline read 31-23 in Tamil Thalaivas’ favour.

It was then Narender’s turn to shine in the limelight as he produced 2 fantastic multi-point raids to swiftly earn an ALL OUT for his side. Along the way, he completed a Super 10 and his team led by 14 points with less than 5 minutes to go.

With about 3 minutes left, Tamil Thalaivas captain Sagar launched into a huge tackle on Sushil to bag a High 5 and become the first defender to reach 50 tackle points this season. There was more reason to celebrate for Tamil Thalaivas as Sahil Gulia also crossed the 50 tackle points mark and the team closed out a comprehensive 17-point win.

Pawan Sehrawat masterclass leads Telugu Titans to huge win at home

20th January, Hyderabad: The Telugu Titans beat the U.P. Yoddhas 49-32 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium on Saturday. The loss extended the U.P. Yoddhas losing slump and have the Telugu Titans a much-needed boost in front of a loud home crowd.

The first half was defined by the whims of the Telugu Titans’ Pawan Sehrawat, who found form and grit at the perfect stage in front of the home fans. Pawan scored 16 points and he really set the tone for the Telugu Titans dominance on the day.

They inflicted the first ALL OUT in the 10th minute of the game to take a 15-9 lead and never let go after that. The Telugu Titans managed to keep Pardeep Narwal through the half to boost their dominance and take a 24-16 lead at the break.

The onslaught continued into the second half and within three minutes the Titans inflicted a second ALL OUT to extend their lead. Even as Sehrawat led the charge his counterpart Omkar Patil’s crucial points kept the U.P. Yoddhas on the back foot.

By the time they got their third ALL OUT the result was moot. It was more about what the difference would be. As it was Patil and Sehrawat both completed their 10 point hails and the U.P. Yoddhas slumped to another huge loss.

Ashu Singh scores 17 points as Dabang Delhi KC beat U Mumba 39-33

20th January, Hyderabad: Dabang Delhi KC returned to winning ways as they earned a 39-33 win over U Mumba in the Pro Kabaddi League match at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium on Saturday. Ashu Malik played a captain’s role for Dabang Delhi KC again as he bagged an impressive 17 raid points, while Guman Singh was U Mumba’s key performer with 13 raid points.

It was a topsy-turvy contest to begin as both sides traded the lead frequently. U Mumba inched ahead to lead 9-5, but then Dabang Delhi KC struck back through some resolute defending. Vishal Bhardwaj came off the bench to execute 2 SUPER TACKLES and Dabang Delhi KC were back in business. However, it was U Mumba who grabbed an ALL OUT in the dying stages of the half to take a slender lead. But Dabang Delhi KC found a way back into the game via a multi-point raid from Ashu that saw both sides go into the break tied at 16-16.

Dabang Delhi KC upped the ante in the 2nd half as Ashu grabbed 3 quick points before Pranay Rane stepped into the lobbies for an ALL OUT and the team from Delhi took the lead. They led 22-17 with 3 minutes played in the 2nd half. Dabang Delhi KC calmly extended their lead and it looked like they were running away with the game until Guman produced a marvellous SUPER RAID. He escaped the clutches of four defenders to give his side a fighting chance at 28-25. That raid also brought up his 6th Super 10 of the season.

With 10 minutes left, Dabang Delhi KC were down to 3 men and U Mumba sniffed a comeback. They made an inspired substitution as Heidarali Ekrami came off the bench to pick up a couple of crucial points to reduce the deficit to just 3 points at 33-36, but an excellent SUPER TACKLE from Manjeet in the final minute saw Dabang Delhi KC snap up a thrilling victory.

‘Akshit was our surprise package for Telugu Titans,’ says Bengaluru Bulls’ Head Coach Randhir Singh

HYDERABAD, 20th January 2024: The Bengaluru Bulls produced a masterclass to defeat Telugu Titans 42-26 in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 on Friday.

Speaking about the match, Bengaluru Bulls’ Head Coach Randhir Singh said, “We needed to stop Pawan from scoring too many points and we did that. I knew that they would play very freely as they have nothing to lose. Pawan didn’t score a Super 10 against us and he’s been recording Super 10s quite regularly this season.”

The Bengaluru side’s youngster Akshit emerged as the star player for the Bulls with 9 raid points on the night. When asked about his performance, the Head Coach said, “I had said before the start of the game that I would give a surprise and hopefully, he’ll keep doing well in the upcoming games. I put him under strenuous training in the last two days. He played very well and he was tackled just once in the game. He was our best player against Telugu Titans.”

The Pro Kabaddi League veteran Surjeet Singh was at the forefront of the Bulls’ defence unit against the Titans. Speaking about Surjeet, Randhir Singh expressed, “He’s a good player, but he needed to learn how to be patient. Earlier, he would score five points and give away three to four points as well. Now I have taught him to be patient and I would like to congratulate him for his performance against Telugu Titans.”

The Bengaluru Bulls will be next in action when they take on Tamil Thalaivas on Sunday.

Patna Pirates take hard earned 34-31 win over U.P. Yoddhas

19th January, Hyderabad:  The Patna Pirates beat the UP Yoddhas for the second time in the PKL season 10 with a 34-31 victory at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium today. Ankit (5 points) and M Babu (4 points) defensive nous was the real difference for the Pirates on the day.

The Patna Pirates kicked off strongly, and by the time Sandeep Kumar put in his multi-point raid with 3 minutes gone, the U.P. Yoddhas were already in trouble. AS has been the case through the season Pardeep Narwal struggled through the half registering just one point through it.

The defence really was the difference between the two sides, and the Patna Pirates were doing better with it. They inflicted the first ALL OUT in the sixth minute of the game to take a 11-4 lead. They kept up their pressure and went into the break leading by 6 at the break.

The U.P. Yoddhas defensive struggles continued well into the second half and at one point the Patna Pirates had streaked to a 10 point lead. A SUPER TACKLE by Hitesh staved off a second all out and kept them in the game with the final quarter of the game to go.

The two defenders of the U.P. Yoddhas defence put on a prolonged resistance in a brilliant final quarter performance, Anil Kumar getting successful raids in DO OR DIE moments. In a twist, they even clawed back a lot of the lead in the final minute of the game. Narwal’s error of judgement on the Uu.p. Yoddhas final raid, with barely 20 seconds left blew their chance of an extraordinary comeback though, as the Patna Pirates edged to a three point victory.

Akshit’s raiding brilliance, Surjeet’s High 5 power Bengaluru Bulls to 16-point win over Telugu Titans

19th January, Hyderabad: Bengaluru Bulls staged a comeback to hand Telugu Titans a 42-26 defeat on the opening day of their home leg in the Pro Kabaddi League match at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium on Friday. Left raider Akshit, who came off the bench, was Bengaluru Bulls’ star player with 9 points, while Surjeet Singh excelled with 6 tackle points.
Telugu Titans got off to a good start and took the early lead, but the Bengaluru Bulls clawed their way back into the game to make it 5-5. However, the home side seized control of the game through 2 huge SUPER TACKLES and skipper Pawan Sehrawat followed it up with a couple of points to make it 10-6. Backed by a capacity home crowd, Telugu Titans led by 3 points at the break.

It was a game of 2 halves as Bengaluru Bulls took over in the second half. A multi-point raid from Vikash Kandola led to the 1st ALL OUT at 14-12. Akshit was the pick of the Bengaluru Bulls’ raiders as he grabbed point after point, leading his side to a 22-16 lead. The home side was reduced to 1 man and it was a matter of time before the ALL OUT was inflicted and Bengaluru Bulls led 26-19. With 8 minutes to go, it looked like the Bengaluru Bulls would seal the win.

And they did, in some style. It took them just 5 more minutes to inflict a 3rd ALL OUT and Akshit, once again, played a key role in that. It was only fitting that he wrapped up the game with an incredible 4-point raid that got the Bengaluru Bulls back to winning ways.
