Pv Sindhu become first female athlete from India to win Silver medal in Olympics. Sindhu lost Gold Medal match against world #1 Carolina Marin fro Spain by 21-19, 12-21, 15-21.

Sindhu won first set by 21-19 but at mid way Sindhu was trailing by 4 points but in later stages of Set she won back to back points and won the set. In set 2, Carolina started with very fast game and won the set by 21-12. In last set PV Sindhu was 10 all at one point but Carolina played excellent game and won the matcha nd Gold medal for Spain for first time in Badminton.

Sindhu settled for Silver medal and bettered Saina Nehwals Bronze medal which Saina won in 2012 London Olympics. Sindhu is second athlete to win medal in this years Olympics after Sakshi Malik, who won bronze medal in Wrestling.
