AIZAWL: Former champions Chanmari FC and Dinthar FC met in the first fixture of the second round of the Mizoram Premier League and were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw.
The favorites Chanmari FC started the match more brightly and created chances but ultimately failed to convert them.
As the two teams battled back and forth, the first breakthrough of the match happened in the dying minutes of the first half. Chanmari FC’s Reuben converted a beautiful freekick to give his side the lead at halftime.
The second half saw Chanmari FC again dominating play as Dinthar FC tried in vain to get back level.
Dinthar FC reap the rewards of their brilliant counter-attacking strategy as Michael Lalremruata equalised 11 minutes from time.
Dinthar FC’s Lalhmachhuana was duly awarded Man of the Match award for his rock solid performance.
