Jackson is optimistic about India’s performance in upcoming U17 world cup

In Press conference organized before FIFA U17 world cup draw in Mumbai, Jackson Singh said he is very confident that Indian team will perform well in World cup. When asked about today’s draw and which team he prefers to play in World Cup he said, “We respect all teams and will play against any team which will be placed against India tonight.

When asked about his future plans, he said he wants to play for Bengaluru FC and if given a chance in German Clubs.

Jackson also pointed out that teams European tour is was very helpful and they all learned  a lot in the tour playing against teams like Italian, French and Spanish clubs. He also thanked India government for backing players and giving this opportunity to play in World cup for India.

Arsenal and Nigerian legend Nwankwo Kanu  is hopeful that this tournament would help out youths in country to play best football. When asked about defending champion Nigeria not able to qualify for World cup this time he said that its unfortunate, federation will look into this and correct the things what went wrong this time.

Esteban Cambiasso, ex-Real madrid and Argentinean player said that these tournaments help budding talent and will help Indian players a lot.

In post draw press conference Indian u17 coach Luis Norton de Matos said that this would be the learning step for our players and he is very confident that we do well in world cup. In upcoming 90 days to world cup will be playing against top U17 teams like Colombia, Mexico and Chile. When asked who the toughest opponent is in Indian group, coach relied “Colombia is the toughest”.

AIFF president, Praful Patel is also confident in teams and said definitely Indian players will perform well in world cup. He also added that India is bidding for FIFA U20 world cup 2019 and Sports minister, Vijay Goel said that Government of India will provide all possible support if India is select as Host of prestigious event.
