GENOA – In a closely contested Serie A encounter, Juventus was held to a 1-1 draw by Genoa, with a second-half equalizer by Albert Gudmundsson denying the visitors the chance to claim the top spot in the league. Juventus now sits a point behind leaders Inter Milan, who are yet to play their match against Lazio on Sunday.

The match at Genoa saw Juventus take an early lead in the 28th minute. Federico Chiesa, displaying composure and precision, converted a penalty after being fouled by Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martinez. This goal seemed to set the tone for Juventus, who were looking to capitalize on their good form in the league.

However, the second half brought a shift in momentum. Genoa, showing resilience, levelled the score just three minutes after the restart. Albert Gudmundsson seized his chance, finishing off a well-orchestrated passing move with a clinical strike past Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. This goal breathed new life into the game and provided a much-needed boost for Genoa, who are fighting to distance themselves from the relegation zone.

Despite the setback, Juventus pushed for a winning goal, creating several opportunities. The most notable chance came in the dying minutes of the match when Bremer, in a prime position, forced a remarkable save from Martinez. The Genoa keeper’s heroics in the final moments ensured his team secured a valuable point in their campaign.

With this result, Juventus, under the guidance of Massimiliano Allegri, finds itself in a challenging position in the title race, now trailing Inter Milan. Meanwhile, Genoa’s draw provides them a slight cushion above the relegation zone, placing them at 14th with 16 points.
